PASSOÃ LIMITED EDITION

To celebrate summer 2022, Passoã is releasing a limited edition pack to promote their passion fruit liqueur.

In 1985 the founder of Passoã, Rémy Cointreau, travelled to Brazil in search of a specific variety of oranges for a new recipe and instead discovered the maracuja, or passionfruit. The fruit inspired him to develop a recipe which became Passoã Passion Fruits Liqueur. In turn, his journey to Brazil as well as the brand’s focus on celebrating spontaneous moments anywhere and anytime inspired the design of this limited edition bottle.

Initial concept sketches

These are three of the concepts that I presented to the client after one round of exploration. Each was inspired by a different part of the Brazilian brand story.

Route 1 draws from tropical sunsets on summer evenings, using a transparent label in a clever way so that the sea is the liquid itself and will disappear as the liqueur is used. Route 2 focuses on the passion fruit itself, with a lush, straight from the jungle vine feel. Route 3 is inspired by the bespoke patterns that are unique to the sidewalks at Brazil’s iconic beaches, with the potential for collectability within the limited edition range.

The second route was selected as the preferred design for further development.
